TERMS & CONDITIONS

Participation in the online competition based on the website www.drum-mastery.eu and their implementation are in accordance with the following provisions.

§1 Online Contest

 

(1) There will be no charge to participate or to vote in the contest.
(2) You must upload, following the instructions on this site, a video of yourself performing to the official drum mastery play-along drum track.
(3) Only one application per person is permitted.
(4) Applications with Electronic Drum Kits won’t be accepted.
(5) Each applicant guarantees that their submission is their own performance and that they obtain the rights to publish the self-made video.
(6) You will be able to upload your video at any point during the online contest. We strongly recommend you upload your video before the public voting period starts to make sure you get enough votes from the community.
(7) Your Video will be viewable online between one and three workdays after your upload.
(8) Public voting will be disabled until 06. November 2011. During this period all visitors to the web site will be able to view any entrant’s video submission.
(9) From 07. November – 16. December 2011 there will be a public voting period. All members of the public can vote for as many drummers as they like but cannot vote for a single drummer more than once per day.
(10) At the end of the public voting period from each country the best four drummers (top three scoring entrants by public voting and one entrant chosen by Shure) will go through to a judgment panel of music professionals. This jury will select the five best drummers aged 20+ and the best drummer less than 20 years of age of the whole international contest.
(11) Shure prize on the above mechanism:

  • 1 x Beta 57A
  • 1 x Beta 52A

The 5 Finalists:

2 Days Trip to Reykjavik
Shure will cover the travel expenses from Icelandair hubs to Reykjavik and back and for accommodation in Reykjavik for the 5 finalists. Furthermore, Shure will provide the hardware (drum sets and drum microphones) for the masterclass and the drum battle in Reykjavik.

Travel expenses (2nd class) to an Icelandair hub will be covered by the regional Shure distributor.

All costs over and beyond the above have to be covered by the respective participants.
Participation in a Masterclass with Darren Ashford in Reykjavik

During the Masterclass, held in a music school center in Reykjavik, the Top 5 (finalists) will have the opportunity to play together with Darren Ashford, and get first hand tips on drum miking provided by a Shure Sound Engineer. The Masterclass also serves as the warm-up for the Drum Battle at the following day.

Participation in the final Drum Battle in Reykjavik

The final drum battle will be held in a club in Reykjavik, the day after the masterclass. The finalists ‘battle’ against each other. In the end, the local audience will vote for the final winner.

§2 Participants

 

(1) This online contest is open to all amateur drummers who are not already earning a living from their drumming.
(2) Participants have to be a residence in one of the participating countries.
(3) Together with the entry, all applicants will have to submit a valid email address and complete an online application form including agreement to the competition terms and conditions, and a short questionnaire.
(4) Applicants aged less than 18 years need the permission of their parents or legal guardian.
(5) For the final battle in Reykjavik you must be at least 20 years old. Furthermore you must have a valid passport, an international health insurance and the permission to travel to Iceland.

§3 Exclusion from the competition

 

(1) SHURE employees and their relatives are excluded from participation.
(2) SHURE reserves the right to exclude persons from the competition by any violations of these Terms and Conditions.
(3) Anyone found to be providing false personal information will also be excluded from the competition

§4 Implementation and execution

 

(1) Winners will be notified by e-mail. Furthermore there will be a publication of the winners on www.drum-mastery.eu
(2) Finalists must be available for a conference call with the responsible country manager to coordinate the trip to Reykjavik.
(3) If the winner don’t respond within 2 weeks after the mailing of the notification, there will be a new winner selected by the jury.
(4) The hardware prizes will be shipped from Shure or a third party parcel service to the winner.
(5) A cash payment or a substitute for the hardware prizes is not possible.
(6) The claim to the prize is not transferable.

§5 Premature termination of the drum mastery competition

 

SHURE reserves the right to terminate the competition at any time without notice and without giving any reasons. Shure will make use of this possibility if for technical reasons (e.g. viruses in the computersystem, manipulation or errors in hardware and/or software) or for legal reasons, a proper implementation of the competition can’t be guaranteed. If such a termination may be caused by a participant's behavior, SHURE will require compensation from that person.

§6 Data protection

 

(1) To participate in the drum mastery it is essential to store the necessary data for the duration of the contest.
(2) Each participant has the ability to terminate the consent of storage and thus withdraw from participation by revocation (if possible in English) under iceland@drum-mastery.eu from the email address used at their application.
(3) Shure is committed to observe the legal provisions of data protection and to preserve the secrecy of telecommunications.
(4) By uploading a video each participant confirms that

  • his/her given name corresponds to the name which appears on the respective passport.
  • he/she is the drummer in the uploaded video.
  • he/she only participates with one submission in the whole contest.
  • he/she has all the rights to the video.
  • he/she will at no point receive any fee’s from Shure for the usage of the video.
  • he/she will provide Shure Europe GmbH with the usage right to publish and distribute his/her video on Shure web sites, Shure blogs, Shure Facebook Profiles and Shure Youtube channels within Europe, Middle East & Africa in particular for the purpose of advertising Shure products.
  • he/she agrees to be excluded from the contest, if the video shows offensive content or violates third party rights.

 

§7 Miscellaneous

 

(1) The Judges decision is final and legally binding.
(2) The validity of the other terms & conditions will remain unaffected, if any of them should be or become invalid.
(3) These terms and conditions may change at any time without prior notification from Shure.
(4) Only the law of the Federal Republic of Germany is applicable.
